History


1937
Heinrich Fuhrhop ran an installation and plumbing business.
He makes kerosene lamps and is responsible for the city's lamps. His wife Caroline, née Faillard, is a descendant of Huguenot religious refugees from France.
The other branch of the family belongs to Clan Davin, the builders of the Huguenot Tower.
Heinrich and Caroline Fuhrhop's youngest child is named Edmund. He marries Else Drippe, a cook at a renowned guesthouse. The couple has two daughters, Bärbel and Vera.
1943
Edmund Fuhrhop dies in Russia.
1945
Four people died in the bombing of our house. High above the enormous pile of rubble, a picture of a guardian angel still hangs unscathed on the wall.

1949
Erwin Drippe earned his master craftsman's certificate as a plumber and installer and made a significant contribution to the reconstruction when he was 26. Work began on the side section.
The first spa guests can move in and will receive full board.

1955
During a mild winter, work can begin on the front part of the house. The priority is to complete the guest rooms on the first floor. The garden behind the house, with its fountain, is a place for guests to relax.
1975
Bärbel Fuhrhop marries gardener Günter Janke, a refugee from Silesia. Two sons, Edmund and Christian, were born from this marriage.
1977
The large garden has to make way for the construction of the new guesthouse. Under difficult conditions and with a great deal of personal effort, new rooms are being created under time pressure.
The new building will house 14 double rooms and three single rooms with shower/toilet (a real achievement at the time).

2012
After completing his apprenticeship as a cook and pastry chef in renowned establishments, Christian Janke married Sandra Walter. The couple had two children, Tom and Vincent Janke.
2015
Christian Janke takes over the Komfort-Pension Fuhrhop and continues to run the business with his wife in the third generation.

Bärbel and Günter Janke are celebrating their eightieth birthday and happily help out every day.
